“Look at you. Yesterday, you were nothing but a vagabond, a powerless little nothing, dried gum stuck to the boot of society. And today... youʼre a government agent. Quite the glow up.”

Welcome to Unit XVI. You’re on extermination duty. The world’s crawling with wild demons, horrible things grown from all of mankind’s fears. When one shows its face, it's our agents who take it down. To this end you’ll have a contract with a sympathetic devil or captive demon, which’ll give you the power to rip these monsters to shreds. Now, there’s just a little detail about payment…

DXMON is a setting for BXLLET, created by Jon East and Rathayibacter and heavily inspired by Chainsaw Man. You’ll play as one of five new archetypes, each one contracting with a different kind of devil, and each one paying their own terrible cost for that power. To survive, you’ll have to battle hordes of demons, rogue agents, and more. But you don’t want to just survive, do you? You want it all. And maybe, if the demons or the agency or your own contract don’t do you in first, you might even get it.

Note: While DXMON is based on BXLLET, the rules, archetypes and details in this module can also be used completely standalone or in conjunction with other systems! No reason not to sell your soul to a devil!

Are you supposed to make a character in BXLLET and then add the devil contract? This game doesn’t explain equipment, tools, or abilities like in the core game. I understand that fights in Chainsaw Man usually don’t feature the same kind of situational advantages as in westerns, but some clarity about how these rules slot together with the base game would be nice.

Another point that I feel needs clarity is whether demons have the same limitations on their powers as the PCs. It’s a big deal in BXLLET when NPCs use their own bullets, but the tules in DXMON don’t specify whether NPCs need to make the same sacrifices based on the source of their powers. Can demons use their powers without a human to sacrifice to them? Can new NPCs be built using the same guidelines as in BXLLET?

I forgot to mention this, but despite my feedback your game is awesome! I had no idea it was possible to translate the atmosphere and themes of Chainsaw Man into a RPG, but you absolutely nailed it while also expressing your own artistic vision.

Thanks for reaching out! DXMON's an interesting thing, in that it is and isn't a BXLLET system. So, no, you definitely don't need to make a BXLLET character first, though a character running both sounds like a really fun disaster waiting to happen.

We talked about including the dice mechanic stuff, but opted against it. You could definitely use BXLLET's dice system w DXMON, but you could also use a different resolution mechanic, or not use one at all. Very few of the games of BXLLET I've run or played in really even use it, lmao.

As for NPCs and demons using powers, that's a great question! NPCs for sure are paying costs for their powers, but I wouldn't worry about tracking that too much unless it's an important character or a prolonged scene. If someone gives up five years of their life and gets their head taken off seconds later, it doesn't much matter. As for demons, they can essentially do whatever they want. Like with Beasts from BXLLET, they're intentionally a bit abstract, because there's not really any way to know if you'll decisively win against one. That being said, the way we sketched out the demons in DXMON was intended to give a rough idea of what they're capable of, and the ways you could potentially counter or avoid them. The details will come down to the tone at the table, but just like in Chainsaw Man, demons are terrifying and unstoppable up until the moment they're reduced to a pile of gore.

Lemme know if there's anything else you'd like clarification on, and we're really glad to hear you like the game!
